New Assistant Principal at Walnut Hills

Hello Walnut Hills students, staff, and families!

I am so excited to begin my work as Assistant Principal at Walnut Hills for the 2019-2020 school year, as I have heard so many great things about the Walnut Hills community. I look forward to getting to know each of you and wanted to share a little bit about myself.

I grew up in southeast Iowa, attended the University of Northern Iowa, and received my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a minor in Reading. My teaching experiences include kindergarten and second grade in the classroom as well as teaching English language learners as a supplemental support. Most recently, I have been an instructional coach at Hillside Elementary in West Des Moines for the past five years. I obtained my master’s degree in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development from Drake in 2017 and then pursued a second master’s in Educational Leadership, also at Drake, which I will complete this spring. I am a lifelong learner who is passionate about supporting students, families, and teachers.

My husband, Ben and I live in Grimes with our four children Halle (11), Peyton (9), Cade (7), and Jase (5). We enjoy family movie nights, hiking, running around to activities, and cheering for the Cyclones!

I can’t wait to get started at Walnut Hills!
